Shutters
Furnishings For Your Windows

Nothing says "Elegance" like Shutters. With our extensive selection of styles, colors and frames, there is virtually no window that we cannot furnish.

Everyone remembers a room with shutters. There is no forgetting the beauty and style that shutters add to a room. Just imagine your home with these beautiful window furnishings throughout.

"Shutters Change Everything!"

We offer a wide selection of colors to choose from and when the need arises we can also do custom color matching.

Shutter Construction. This picture shows a Hunter Douglas shutter panel 'joined' using a dove tail joint. It's the strongest joint you can use in building furniture.

If you buy a cheap shutter expect to have problems. I often get calls for repairs to shutters falling apart only to find out they were cheap to begin with. Buying from a reputable dealer will ensure you are getting a good product and a good warranty.

We offer Hunter Douglas and Norman shutters. They come with a great warranty and we've installed enough over the years to know they are built well and are trouble free.

Shutter Louvers. Shutters louvers come in different sizes. We offer 1 7/8", 2 1/2", 3 1/2" and 4 1/2" in the 'elliptical' louver design.

This picture shows a hardwood, stained shutter with 3 1/2" elliptical louvers and a tilt rod. The tilt rod is the vertical (handle) piece and is used for opening and closing the louvers.

We can also do an S-Curve, louver design in 2 1/2" and 3 1/2" sizes.

What's the difference in louver size? In this picture the louvers on the right are 2 1/2" while the louvers on the left are 3 1/2".

See the difference in the view?

When the situation warrants I will recommend the larger 4 1/2" louvers.

Hidden tilt rods as shown here are a good suggestion when the maximum view is important.

There's no price difference between 2 1/2" to 4 1/2" louver sizes, but if you want hidden tilt rods expect to pay 10 to 15% more.

On Hidden Tilt all the louvers are connected on the backside.

Shutter Arches. If you have arches in your house you need to understand the difference between sunburst design and louvered arch design.

This is a sunburst arch.

On Louvered Arch the arch is part of the door panel with operable louvers.

In specialty shapes there are lots of designs like: Quarter Round Sunburst, Half Round Sunburst, Eyebrow Sunburst, Elongated Eyebrow (or raised eyebrow) Sunburst, Circle Sunburst, Hexagon Sunburst, and Angle Top.

French Door Cutouts. French doors are easily done in shutters with cutouts that allow the shutter frame to go around the door handles and locks. There are two or three cut out designs to fit whatever french door you have.

"Bi-folds" are often used on doors like in the picture on the right.

The picture on the left shows a "Track By-Pass" configuration.

There are pluses and minuses in the track by-pass setup.

This is a true Cafe shutter. A true cafe shutter is one in which the frame goes all the way around the top. A 'cafe style' frame, on the otherhand, stops at the top of the shutter door, usually half way up.

Elegance This picture shows how a beautiful bay window area is done in shutters. That set of windows would have looked nice in wood blinds, faux wood or whatever you can imagine but shutters make a rich statement.

Shutters are everyone's first choice. Everything else comes after that. They are beautiful, durable and they actually add value to the home as they are 'permanent window coverings'. Not only that but they do a good job insulating the window.

One more thing when looking at shutter manufacturers. Find out how the (door) panels are fixed into place when shut. Make sure the 'fixing' device is not noticeable from the outside. Cheap manufactured shutters have magnets in plain view from the outside which takes away from the furniture look.
